Source blocks (#+BEGIN_SRC language ... #+END_SRC) are converted to monospace paragraphs in Word. Syntax highlighting isn't preserved in DOCX, but code remains readable with proper indentation. Language specifiers are retained as comments for reference.

Internal Org links ([[target]]) and external URLs convert to Word hyperlinks. Cross-references to headlines work if targets exist in the document. File links and Org-specific link types may need manual verification after conversion.

Timestamps (<2025-12-22>) and scheduling markers (SCHEDULED, DEADLINE) are preserved as text in the Word document. Calendar integration doesn't transfer to DOCX, but temporal information remains visible for reference and manual calendar entry.

Org Babel source blocks are preserved as code blocks in Word. Execution results (#+RESULTS) are included as separate paragraphs. For literate programming documents, this creates readable documentation combining explanatory text with code and outputs.

Standard Org metadata like #+TITLE, #+AUTHOR, #+DATE are converted to Word document properties. Export options (#+OPTIONS) may affect processing. Enable 'Standalone document' to ensure metadata appears in Word's document info panel.

Excellent for academic workflows. Convert Org drafts to Word for journal submission or collaboration with non-Emacs users. Maintains document structure, citations (as text), and formatting. For complex bibliographies, consider using Pandoc citation features separately.
