QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) is a legacy format from Intuit for exporting financial data. It uses plain text with single-character field codes.

QIF is outdated and not supported by modern ERP systems. MT940 is the global banking standard accepted by SAP, Oracle, and most accounting software.

Date (D), Amount (T), Payee (P), Memo (M), Check Number (N), and Category (L) are mapped to appropriate MT940 fields.

QIF files can contain multiple accounts. Each account section is converted to a separate MT940 statement.

QIF uses various date formats (MM/DD/YY, MM/DD/YYYY). The converter auto-detects and converts to MT940's YYMMDD format.
