DPI (dots per inch) or PPI (pixels per inch) specifies how many pixels fit in one printed inch. Higher DPI means smaller, sharper prints. 300 DPI is standard for professional printing.

Changing DPI metadata alone doesn't alter pixels. If you also resample, the image is scaled which may affect quality. Choose 'metadata only' to keep pixels unchanged.
