This tool generates standards-shaped UUIDs. v3/v4/v5 follow the conventional layout (version/variant bits). v1/v2/v6/v7 here are simulated for testing. For strict spec compliance in regulated environments, prefer well-reviewed libraries.

v1, v6, and v7 produce lexicographically sortable values that track creation time more closely than v4. Use them when order-by-ID should reflect recency.

Namespace UUIDs are used with v3 and v5 to generate deterministic IDs. Common namespaces: DNS (6ba7b810-9dad-11d1-80b4-00c04fd430c8), URL, OID, X.500. Same namespace + name always produces the same UUID.

Both are name-based and deterministic. v3 uses MD5 (faster, legacy), v5 uses SHA-1 (more secure). Prefer v5 for new projects unless compatibility with v3 systems is required.

Astronomically unlikely. UUID v4 has 122 random bits, meaning ~5.3×10^36 possible values. You'd need to generate trillions of UUIDs per second for millennia to see a collision.

UUID v7 is time-ordered, improving database index locality and insert performance. Random v4 UUIDs cause index fragmentation. v7 combines time-sorting benefits with uniqueness, ideal for high-volume applications.
