About EBCDIC Encoding

EBCDIC (Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code) is IBM's mainframe character encoding from the 1960s, still actively used in banking, insurance, and government systems. Unlike ASCII, EBCDIC has non-contiguous character ranges inherited from punch card systems.

Code Page 037 (EBCDIC-US): The most common variant for US English systems. Numbers are at 0xF0-0xF9, space at 0x40, letters split across A-I (0xC1-0xC9), J-R (0xD1-0xD9), S-Z (0xE2-0xE9).
